I promised I’d finish telling y’all about my first trip to Europe, which established my love for travel, so here goes. After exploring Rome for a couple of days, we took the train to Florence. Let me tell you – as much as I loved the city of Rome, I was blown away by Florence. You just can’t compare the two because they are polar opposites. Florence is beautiful, and my pictures won’t do it justice.
(pictured below is Duomo Santa Maria del Fiore, a gothic cathedral built in the 1200s)
(Florence lining the Arno River)
(Ponte Vecchio Bridge. One of the very few things destroyed during WWII, because Hitler thought the bridge was beautiful)
(I found the apartment where my bff studied abroad while in college!)
(Rub the boar’s nose for good luck)
(You must eat at Il Latini – authentic Italian food and you can meet new friends!)
Must-do – a wine tour in Tuscany. See the beautiful countryside, while tasting many different delicious Italian wines. (We chose to do a vespa tour which was fun, but full disclosure – a little frightening.)
While in Florence, hike up to Piazzele Michelangelo for beautiful views of the city.
Last, but certainly not least, make sure you catch a sunset from the Ponte Vecchio bridge – it is breathtaking. This is one of my favorite pictures, and there is no filter.
